The Samsung Galaxy SII is the predecessor to the popular and successful Galaxy S smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy SII reached an impressive 5 million sales in only 8 weeks making it one of the best selling android phones of all time, and growing on the popularity of the Android platform.
The Samsung Galaxy SII is an awesome smartphone with power, speed and a beautiful sleek and compact design. Significantly thinner compared to the original Galaxy S smartphone and has similar dimensions to the iPhone 4 measuring a mere 8.49mm v 9.3m, for this reason it may be susceptible to breaking easily as many have reported with the Apple iPhone 4. The screen looks at lot bigger in real life than it does on video reviews and photos and the back is covered in a textured plastic but is suprising solid for the build type.
The Galaxy S II is a super light phone for the specs weighing only 117g and features the latest Android Gingerbread 2.3.3 operating system running on a Exynos dual-core 1.2 GHz processor and has 4G capability for faster browsing and multi-tasking, the speed of this phone also makes it perfect for gaming and streaming video and audio.
One of the most impressive features you’ll notice with the latest version of the Galaxy S is the improved 4.27-inch Super Amoled screen which provides enhanced readability and less battery usage at 480 x 800 pixel resolution and supporting up to 16 million colours the screen, is visibly brighter and vivid than most other smartphones and has a crisp and clear appearance when browsing, better contrast, more visable in sunlight and superb when watching videos and playing games.
The Samsung Galaxy SII has a 2 mega pixel front facing camera and an 8.1 megapixel rear facing camera with AF and strong LED Flash with full 1080p HD video recording. The quality of the video playback is excellent and is definately a feature many other smartphone providers will try to match including Apple. Other features including samsung’s custom Touchwiz 4 interface which, provides 4 hubs to read, chat, listen to music and play games. The smartphone also features a GSM quad band network, Wi-Fi but unfortunately no HDMI which, is a bit of a disapointment considering the price tag.

The bottom line:
The Samsung Galaxy SII has to be one the best android smartphones released to date and the main contenter against Apple iPhone. The price tag is a little high and you could get more value for your money however, Samsung’s innovtive screen design and custom UI justifies the cost of the phone.
